Christmas Day

Christmas day has turned to Christmas night. The pups are sound asleep, near their new toys. My mom and dad came over and we had an excellent dinner prepared by Armywife. It rained most of the day, but inside it was warm and cozy. By the end of the day, the rain had stopped and the fog took over.

We video chatted with the Airman and he looked in good spirits. He was heading to a friends home for dinner. The Mechanic shared a picture of their new Wii.I hope all is well with everyone and you had an enjoyable Christmas.

Christmas is Near

Only one more week until Christmas! We will be empty nesters this year, neither of the boys will be here for Christmas. The Airman is trying to stay warm and keep his car dug out of the snow at Hill AFB near Ogden, Utah. The Mechanic is flying to Ohio to join his bride,Pepper at her grandparents home. They (the boys and Pepper) will in all likelihood have a white Christmas, or at least a very cold one.

It will be us and the dogs & cat. We will enjoy the day and celebrate the birth of Christ with my parents, Poochiegirl and FlxFlyer. It will be nice, but not quite the same.

The Airman is moving off base, lucky him. The dorms (barracks for those of us who served a ways back) are overflowing with Airmen. He moves before Christmas. He will reside only 5 minutes from base and share the apartment with at least one, maybe two other Airmen. He may not be coming home in January as planned, so Armywife and I may have to head that way, via airplane, not by car. Although we could pick up where the Airman and I left off, 312,467 bottles of beer on the wall, you take one down and pass it around... you get the idea.

Hope all is well with everyone, there is still a chance you can redeem yourself and get a gift instead of a lump of coal from Santa.

Merry Christmas One and All

Merry Christmas to all of you. We celebrated Christmas Eve with Poochiegirl and FlxFlyer. The Mechanic and Pepper joined us too. We all made out like bandits in the present department. Even Chester and Bailey got into the action. Inside the sock is Felix, who made it to the party and helped himself to some real food.

Phase One Begins

The Recruit is now Airman. He departed for basic training last Monday. Arrived in sunny San Antonio to begin 8.5 weeks of fun. He gets to tackle The Beast. A new (since October) phase of basic to prepare them for deployments.

Armywife and I immediately departed on our own adventure. I had a TDY in DC and she visited Cauzie.

The Airman was allowed to call tonight for about a total length of 30 seconds. He passed his address. Lucky for the Internet. Armywife googled the info and we had it wrong. She found a sight that appears to be very helpful in such things. I remember having to do extra push ups if my letter was addressed wrong.

The first day of winter is Sunday, looks like many of you already are having more than enough of the snow. I'd like a White Christmas and I'd be happy. I don't like running the a/c during "winter" but that is what you have to do every now and then here in the South.

Armywife sent The Airman's address out, if you didn't get it, send me an email.

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving

I am especially thankful for my beautiful wife (Armywife), my boys and my parents. I've been blessed with a good life.

Chester, Bailey and Baxter are thankful for a softy - Armywife. She rescued all three from the elements. You can see the thanks and love in their eyes. Bailey is especially thankful for the inventor of the Frisbee and Regular Guy who can wing it pretty good. Baxter is thankful for turkey and chicken.

Hope you all had a great day and took time to give thanks.

Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving to all. We finally have our dining room back, since the sewing room was moved to an empty bedroom. Today it will be in the upper 40's low 50's, perfect for a fire in the fireplace. The turkey is cooking right now and the house smells great. Flxflyer, Poochiegirl, The Mechanic and Pepper will join us. College Boy is in Chicago with The Girlfriend enjoying the cold weather. The Nor'Easter has come and gone, we must have gotten 6 inches of rain along with cold winds.

Special thoughts and prayers to Carolyn and her family and prayers for Kevin and his family as they recover from their loss.

Hard to believe another year is almost over. Be careful if you are out and about and traveling the airways or roads.

Happy New Year 2006

Happy New Year to all of you. We are going to spend a nice quite evening with the kiddos - Baxter and Bailey. The Mechanic and Pepper are going to join us for dinner, snacks and good company. If you call and we don't answer we're probably passed out on the couch, love seat and recliner, maybe even the floor waiting for the ball to drop.

Where does the time go, 2005 seems like a blur. It was a good year though, made some new friends and old friendships became better. The Mechanic graduated college and College Boy moved into his own apartment. The Marine made it back from Iraq safely.

Armywife and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary this year. Seems like only yesterday we were honeymooning at the Fantasy Inn, Lake Tahoe. Also seems like yesterday I was standing in the hallway of our apartment waiting for her to innocently come out of the bedroom - only to have me standing in the dark with my protective mask and hood on breathing deeply. We had just returned from watching "My Bloody Valentine".  She should have known better after that stunt.
