On the way home I saw a line of cars in the street waiting to get gas. Unusual, I said to myself. Gas was $3.63. A couple of blocks down the street I saw why, $4.99 at an empty Exxon. Every other gas station was stacked with cars, some were in the street waiting to pull up to the pumps. Prices varied up to $3.99 but no one else was over $4.00. I check online and see a picture of a station in Raleigh $9.99, yes those are NINES. On the local news, they reported on a station in Fayetteville selling at $5.94. If that ain't price gouging then I don't know what is. All for a storm that hasn't destroyed an refinery or oil well. Lucky for us, I filled up a couple of days ago. Good luck finding cheap gas this weekend. Wonder how long it will take them to lower their prices. Someone or someones need to go to jail for this.
On a lighter subject, Bailey almost gave up the ghost today. Her collar got caught on a knob for a piece of furniture. She caused quite a commotion in the house, crying, barking, you name it. She managed to wiggle out of her collar, leaving it hanging on the knob. Did I mention she broke the frame to the door of that piece of furniture (I think I can repair it). To top it off, she pooped on the floor, the episode scared the crap right out of her. The Recruit took charge of Bailey and got her calmed down while Armywife was left with the unenviable task of cleaning up after Bailey. She (Bailey) was a shaking mess. A few pats on the head and a couple of ball throws later, all was ok. She may never walk past that spot again, but she is happy to be alive.
Armywife and I went out to the Wolf German American Restaurant. Very good stuff and very filling.

LSU is currently whipping ASU 34-7, so I am blogging. I think we'll hit Starbucks to stock up with caffeine to watch the Gustav coverage. I pray it does not hit the coast as a Cat 3 hurricane.
I am actually home on a Saturday and not in DC or fighting traffic on I-95 South to get home. We picked up a new router for our wireless Internet connection last night. After several frustrating hours, it is up and working. I had to call customer service, seeing how the Linksys router we bought is not supported by Vista. It is faster than the previous router. We also discovered that our old router had completely given up the ghost. We unknowingly were connecting through a neighbor's unsecure network. We enabled security on our network to prevent those outside of our house from taking a free Internet ride.
The Recruit is in Greensboro watching the game with friends. The drive home won't be too exciting with what appears to be a defeat like this.
How about McCain's pick for VP, Sarah Palin? I think he made an excellent choice, not to mention she is the best looking candidate. We'll see how the press treats her. I know Armywife and Cauzie like her, although they both recommend a new hairdo.
Final Score 41-13 (LSU Tigers) and Gustav is currently a Cat 4 Hurricane.

The answer is: I want a number 2 and two number 5's. Today the A team was serving breakfast at McDonald's. The wait was long, Bailey fell asleep in the back of the Explorer while we waited in the drive through line. I get to the window, pay and get my juice and then wait. The server is standing back from the window about three feet and says, "you got an order of hot cakes?" Not mine, I ordered a sausage mcmuffin and two sausage biscuits. No response and no sign of recognition - blank stare. OK, let's try this, I ordered one number 2 and two number 5's. "You want two apple pies?" was the response I got. NO, I said two NUMBER 5's sausage biscuits. I few minutes later we are wheeling our way home. Bailey hanging her head out of the window while wearing her Doggles (eye protection with UV coating).
It has been a long couple of weeks. Two trips to DC and another one coming up this week. Armywife and College Boy went on one. They toured DC while I labored through some meetings. Last week was solo and this week Armywife and Bailey will entertain Cauzie while I labor through more meetings.
Two more weeks and we are heading off to Blowing Rock for some R&R - no phones, no computers.

Merry Christmas to all of you. Hope your shopping is done. There are a few more hours left today and then again, there is always next year.
A link from a friend shows some interesting Christmas lights.
Keep a smile on your face and maybe Santa will be good to you.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all
